Joseph Grant Snow was acidentally lost overboard from Torsk on January 4, 1945 during a training dive. His body was never found. Joe Snow was the only wartime loss that the Torsk had.

1950 Running boat alongside
2001 Running boat left ship
2030 Snow, Joesph Grant, S1c, 884 75 80, USNR was found missing from his station. A thorough search of the ship was made but he was not found. An investigation was conducted by the Commanding Officer to determine the cause of the disappearance of Snow, Joesph G, S1c. It was determined that Snow was probably lost overboard on the sixth dive on 4 January.
2147 Secured battery charge
2300 Held quarters for muster: one absentee, Snow, Joseph Grant, S1c, USNR. A thorough search of the ship was made with negative results.
