Whatever happened to this Japanese sub?

There used to be, and maybe still is, this Japanese midget sub in front of the Sub School in New London but even back in 1966 was rusting pretty badly, open and outside. Is it still there or did it get scrapped or otherwise disposed of? It's not in the museum. I believe it's a Kairyū Sea Dragon.

Nobody has been up there in the last 20 years?

We were up there in November of 2004. Looks like the openings have been plated over by that point.

It deserves better. It should probably go down to the museum but the interior was pretty badly rusted 51 years ago when I last saw it.
