Summary of shipboard & offsite work for the week ending April 10, 2011

Saturday, April 10

Torsk Crew on board: Chief Mike, Big Al, Dave, Cathy, Frank M, Matt, Nat, John, Kevin, Michelle, Larry S, Ken, Gil, Charlie, Tristan and Jaime.

Big Al Re-lamped control, forward battery and wardroom. He secured all heaters, and removed dirt from high pressure air manifold area using compressed air and vacuumed up dirt in preparation for 409 scrub down.

Chief Mike worked in the Forward Engine Room lower level, doing a survey of various systems for main engines 1 and 2.

Larry S and Matt worked in Radio on parts of the 1MC. Larry checked out resistors in the second signal generator.

Dave hauled trash and junk from various areas for dockside disposal. He continued experimenting with tile and adhesive removal in Maneuvering.

Cathy started painting the Bow Plane Brackets/Panels, and cleaned a bit more in LLAB.

John removed, for restoration, covers from Hull Opening Indicators, and Snorkel Valve boxes in both Engine Rooms. He covered the boxes with cardboard. He also did housekeeping in LLAB and Crew’s Mess.

Frank painted in the Conning Tower, and started restoration work on the stainless partitions for the Conning Tower.

Michelle and Kevin continued working in the ATR. They started with the floor, and staircase down, and then chipped paint on a locker. With a little more work and some paint remover and it will be ready to prime and paint.

Gil worked in Archives where he returned items to their proper place after the shipyard visit, and sorted blueprints. He also began hanging the new ceiling grid in the Wardroom.

Nat did housekeeping.

Ken and Charlie gave tours.

Offsite during the Week:

Cathy painted the Bow Plane Brackets/Panels

Dave worked on TVA admin duties.

Gil worked on TVA admin duties
